Bill Humble
Biographical Details:
Bill Humble was a test pilot and became Hawker Chief Test Pilot between 1945 and 1948. He was well known for his work on the Hawker piston-engine aircraft such as the Typhoon, Tempest and Sea Fury and also piloted the first Hawker jet – the P.1040 – on its maiden flight from Boscombe Down. He retired from piloting to become a Hawker sales representative and died in 1992. Has was the grandfather of television presenter Kate Humble.
